Prof. Dr. Ignacio Fojgel, Phys, M.D, D.G.O., E.U.S. Physician by the University of Buenos Aires (UBA) School of Medicine, Argentina, holding the Doctor of Medicine of the University of the Republic, Uruguay, and the Diploma in Gynecology and Obstetrics from the University of Vienna, Austria.
He is a Specialist in Ultrasound by the Brazilian College of Radiology, and a former Honorary Consultant to the Imaging Dept.of the Children's Hospital in Buenos Aires. As an undergraduate, Dr. Fojgel was trained in research on placental circulation and gas exchange physiology at Prof. Hermgenes Alvarez's laboratory (Uruguay). He later became the first ultrasound diagnostician of the Latin-American Center of Perinatology and Human Development, a PAHO/WHO facility in Montevideo, for Prof. Roberto Caldeyro-Barcia.
An interest in circulatory and respiratory physiology, and its implications in human development and neurological conditions was nurtured by these prestigious masters. Almost ten years ago, Dr. Richard Neubauer introduced him to the field of Neurohyperbarics and its particular problems, which integrated his former training into his current main interest.
Dr. Fojgel is the founder and current Head of the Complementary and Integrative Medicines Department at Maimonides University, in Buenos Aires, and the Chief of its Baromedicine Unit. In this unique academic and clinical facility, diverse indications of the mild pressures/concentrations are researched and analyzed. Courses on the practical application of these hyperbaric techniques are imparted to professionals and caregivers, and synergistic biological and physical treatments are administered to patients.
